mkaka-house2Mkaka Construction Company Limited is a multi-disciplined Local Malawian Construction Company established in 1993 and incorporated in 2000.Since its inception the company has strengthened its capacity to undertake work of any size and/or several works at once. We are now registered in both Civil and Building in Unlimited Categories respectively. We are a Company drawing upon the benefit of over 17 years of experience in the construction industry.

As a Civil engineering and building contractor our goal is to offer our clients and end users the best possible superior products which they will be proud to call their own. Our philosophy has been and always will be to exceed the expectations of our customers.

We are committed to achieving work of the highest standard through the ongoing implementation and monitoring of management and production quality control procedures in accordance with SBS ISO 9002.This assurance encompasses monitoring to ensure that:-

  • Work is done strictly in accordance with the drawing and specifications;
  • Work which is found to be defective is corrected to comply with the specifications;
  • Work is done in accordance with the contractual programme;

Operations

Estimating and Control

Estimating contract cost control is undertaken on the “Candy” module of Construction Computer Software (CCS) family of construction programmes.

Planning and Control

Project planning and the time management control is undertaken on the “Site plan” module of Construction Computer Software (CCS) family of construction equipprogrammes as well as MS Project.

The site plan segment integrates with the “Candy” module to provide accurate time and financial control management.

Precedence network analysis in this module enables various formats to suite individual contractual requirement
Monitoring of contract progress is done on a regular basis, this is measured against the baseline time budget and includes reporting on:-

  1. the overall status of the project;
  2. actual versus baseline dates;
  3. predicted completion dates;
  4. status of critical activities;
  5. Start, finish or float variances.

In compliance with stated Company policies and Legislation the following committees have been constituted to ensure compliance with good governance:-

    • Disciplinary & grievance committee
    • Employee representative forum
    • Employment equity committee
    • Skill development committee

Benchmarking of our internal operations as well as competitive benchmarking is undertaken by Mkaka Construction.

This enables us to measure performances, and the lessons learned form the basis to make targeted improvements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) is used to measure our performance, relative to Project Performance and Company Performance.

The bottom line of using KPI is to improve our services in:-

    • Customer satisfaction of product and service
    • Time of construction
    • Cost of construction
    • Productivity
